Deadpool was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld in 1991, and Wade Wilson first appeared as a sort of parody of DC's also mercenary villain "Slade Wilson", the Deathstroke, but in 1998, writers Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness gave him his own style, full of caustic humor and satiric references that turned him into the huge successful character he is.
